Extremely Happy with the Water Heater

Four years ago, I replaced my traditional water heater with a Tempra 24 Plus. I replumbed what was necessary, upped the circuits and ran new electrical supply to the unit. I really should have gotten in contact after I completed that project because it really came together very easily, and my family has been quite pleased with the result ever since.

About three weeks ago I started having some difficulty getting the heating elements to activate. It was an infrequent issue, but then started to happen more often. Looking at the schematics of how the unit works I assumed the flow control sensor was likely starting to fail. I took several pictures and sent them to Paul Barnard in an email with the description of the issue. Paul agreed it was likely the flow control sensor and sent me a replacement.

The new sensor came complete with new seals, mounting clip and step-by-step instructions for replacement. It could not have been easier to swap out the part and in less than 10 minutes I had the house back up and running with consistent hot water. I am extremely happy with the water heater, and ecstatic with the excellent customer service.

What Every Company in the World Should Have...

I would like to make you accountable of my experience during today’s call for assistance. After dialing 413-247-3380 and hearing the options, I was shortly in line with a Tech Support Specialist.

To my surprise, I was not expecting to get such a great Customer Service. He was able to troubleshoot and answer all questions I had. What really amazed me was how fluently we were able to walk through the troubleshooting steps. Myself not knowing most of the terms, we were able to communicate efficiently and he totally knew how to handle my call. Expert Troubleshooting

I write this email with great gratitude. After your response I contacted an electrician and showed him the email. He tested the circuits on the water heater and found that only one of them had 240 volts. Apparently the geniuses that wired the water heater did it incorrectly. Long story short, your check list paid off and now I have HOT WATER!!!! I cannot thank you enough for the advice. You just saved me over 500 bucks and relieved months of stress.

I Don't Write Fan Mail, But...

I am replacing a hot water unit for our church and have done a lot of comparison shopping over several days. I chose your company for a couple of reasons.

I have one of your Tempra units in my house and have had no problems at all, which is about as high as praise gets for hardware. But not so for the [competitor's] unit at the church. Not only did it fail in 2 years, I have sent 3 emails to tech service and called twice (on hold until I surrendered). In stark contrast, your tech answered on the second ring when I called your 800 number, and recommended a perfectly sized unit that matched my present installation. We had been heavily leaning to a low cost solution, but the difference in attitude and service alone made the sale, augmented by online reviews and my personal experience with the heaters.

I don’t write fan mail, but I want to encourage you to continue to value the added service you provide. I’m sure there is a temptation to pare back, but you are well served by your high standards and wonderful technical service response.

Looking Forward to Many Years of Hot Water.

I just wanted to let someone know that when installing my Tempra 24 Plus system, I was having problems setting up the unit, so I called your tech support line. As a homeowner, I was assisted by one of your technicians, and together with my electrician, we were able to successfully install your water heater. It is working as described. I have three baths, but the master bath is on a separate tank hot water system. One of my 50 gal. electric water heaters went out, and I replaced it with one of your systems. It seems to be working well! I just registered the system and I am looking forward to many years of hot water.

It Is Performing Beyond Our Expectations!

I installed the upgraded Tempra 12, and it took about 30 minutes. This new unit maintains the water temp much more efficiently and accurately. I have reviewed our hourly energy usage from PG&E and it seems we are also using less energy to obtain the same temp output. It is performing beyond our expectations!

I Was Amazed How Well Built These Are!

We have had solar panels for hot water on our roof for several years and just recently we expanded from 3 to 6. Here in NM we get really high winds and sand storms. A few months ago a large rock got picked up by the wind and hit the glass in the front solar panel. The glass shattered into a million pieces but the solar panel still worked!

Instead of taking the old SOL 25 solar panel to the land fill, I decided to take it to the recycling center. First, I wanted to strip it down and separate the copper from the aluminum. I needed a wrecking bar and a large hammer to take this thing apart! I finally separated the aluminum case from the copper tubing. The copper tubing is attached/welded to a copper sheet. I was amazed as to how well built there are!

My First Tankless Water Heater

Historically I've always had gas or electric water heaters, this is my first tankless water heater. I LOVE it! No more running out of water because someone is taking a shower, or running out because someone is using the washing machine or dishwasher! Indestructable Tempra

First, thank you for the wonderful customer service. My basement flooded about 6 weeks ago, and my Tempra® was under 7 feet of water and mud for three days. After pumping out the water and drying my Tempra® 20 (and removing an inch of mud inside the bottom of my unit) it STILL WORKS!!! If this unit ever goes out, you know I will be getting another.

I LOVE My Water Heater!

I LOVE my (Tempra® Plus) water heater! I sing the praises of my Stiebel tankless water heater to everyone. I don't know why anyone would want one of those big old tanks when they could have a tankless. Also, I save on electricity. And I think the Stiebel is the best! The plumber I had hook it up was also very impressed.

Thank you Stiebel Eltron for being so great. I am going to be your advocate here in Portland, OR. Everyone should get a Stiebel tankless water heater! They will never go back to the old ones once they've tried a tankless.

HOT Water ALL the Time

I have been using this (Tempra® 24 Plus) water heater for a week now. I had an American Tankless brand for 6 years before this. I tell you what, the craftsmanship and quality of this unit blows the American Tankless out  of the water. I had nothing but problems with the previous unit and that is why I purchased this one. So far I have not had any issues and it produces HOT water ALL the time. It is very user friendly and the temperature is adustable by 1 degree increments, which is amazing in order to get the temperature just right. My previous unit was 5 degree increments and it seemed to be always to hot or to cold.

Originally I did have to have an electrician wire in 3 circuits as inducated in the installation manual. Other than that, this thing took maybe 30 minutes to install, it even fit perfectily to the dimensions I had with the previous tankless water heater.

My only hesitation was that it is made in Germany. After thinking about it, that is probably why it is such a good tankless water heater as this technology has been around forever in Europe. My previous one was made in America as that was one of the main reasons I bought it. Unfortunately, American manufacturer's are a little behind with this technology and it still seems like they are still working the bugs out.

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your company. I had a Tempra 20 that developed a fault. I spoke with Paul in tech support to try to resolve the problem, unsuccessfully. He chose to send me out a new, updated unit, even thou the old unit was a couple months out warranty. Most companies wouldn't have done that.

I am about to purchase my third Tempra heater for a home that my wife and I are building!

I'm Very Impressed!

I just installed your (Tempra®) unit in my house to test performance.  I'm very impressed!  I use 1.5 gpm non-aerated showerheads and can raise the water temperature high enough to be uncomfortable and the unit keeps up. I can even take two sufficiently hot showers simultaneously. I throttled down the water inlet valves feeding my traditional washing machine to achieve the necessary flow rate to have both hot and warm water. This new unit will be easy to sell against the Titan N-120. Great job with this product!

Great Product!

3 years ago we made the move to a natural gas powered tankless Aquastar water heater and have had a ton of issues since.
After concluding that we've had it with potential explosions to satisfy our desire for long hot showers, I set out to do better research this time around. Everyone kept talking about the tankless heaters in Europe and South America that operate with no problems. The fact is that most of those units are electric. Gas powered units almost all have some sort of complaint on the internet reviews - regardless of manufacturer.

Amazing reviews on this Stiebel Eltron unit. Our place is small (one shower, two sinks), so you first have to ensure that your power panel is minimum 200 amp service and has to double slots for the required 2 x 30 amp breakers(!).
Local distributor sold this to me. It's an amazing sight - slightly larger than a big VCR! Opening the unit shows what appears to be a well-made explosive device. The wires are thick gauge and well organized but it's all very basic - circuit board and heating elements.
Electrician did the 6/2 gauge double wiring install and we were functional a few seconds after I applied Teflon tape to the piping.

The little dial on the unit correlates to a digital temperature readout right underneath it. 116°F (it goes up to 140!) was more than enough to get plenty of heat to the shower and sinks (if desired).
As per other reviews, tankless water heaters *do* require maintenance. Our area does have hard water and we don't have the space for a water softener. We're planning on doing the 8-12 mo vinegar flushes. So figure another $100 into the cost of the unit for a sump-pump and vinegar.
6 weeks in, the unit has continued to perform flawlessly and I suspect, based on the many stellar reviews, will continue to do so.
